The pious of many faiths have for centuries been deeply touched and inspired by the life and words of Saint Francis of Assisi, a man who undoubtedly lived the truly simple life that Jesus advocated. In our times where many self-medicate on consumerism perhaps it is more important than ever to re-evaluate our lives and look to the example of Saint Francis to determine the focus that will bring us and this world peace.
I wish you each peace.
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Many musicians and choirs have rendered the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi to music. The following example by Snatam Kaur is just one of the many, but it is truly a beautiful rendering. Enjoy!

“The author’s experiments and experiences working with nature simply amaze. . . . Beyond the Search is a treasure trove for those who enjoy planting and reaping as it seems nature intended, with respect for each animal and insect as belonging on the planet and therefore deserving of honour.”
